Rusyns living in the USA will soon have many opportunities to meet other Rusyns, get to know their history, traditions and culture, and to show themselves to other people as a minoroty.
On 2 October a Rusyn booth will be present at the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Cleveland Museum of Art. One hundred years ago, when the Museum was developing, Rusyns from Galicia were migrating to the USA, among other places, to Cleveland. The Carpatho-Rusyn Society from the USA, Cleveland Chapter, informs that an exhibition will be available at their booth, apart from the information about Rusyns,it will also be possible to participate in games or other activities prepared for families.

A week later, on 8 October 2016, another two meetings will take place. The first one in Asheville – these will be culinary workshops, the instructor is Andrea Robel. The workshops are planned to be divided into two parts. During the first ones, on 8 October, you can learn how to bake rolls with nuts or poppy. During the second workshops, on 12 December, traditional Christmas cookies will be baked.

If you, however, do not think about baking, you can attend a lecture by Professor Paul Robert Magocsi on 8 October, entitled Carpatho-Rusyns – myths and stereotypes. The professor will talk about the development of national identity, from the old times until today, of exactly the group of Slavs who live in the Central Europe, the fourth East Slavic nation besides Russians, Belarussians and Ukrainians. It will also be possible to buy books by the professor about the history of Carpathian Rus’ and the Carpatho-Rusyns. The meeting will take place in Munhall, Pennsylvania

The last event that will take place in the USA in October is the annual celebration of Rusyns in Uniontown, on the 30th October. After Liturgy, the folk ensemble Slavjane will perform.
