In the village of Łabowa in Lemkovyna, next to a church that dates from 1784, there is an old Lemko cemetery that has fallen into disrepair. To reverse this, the Lemko Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Kyczera,” in cooperation with the Magurycz Association, with the support of the Association of Lemkos and the Museum of Lemko Culture in Zyndranowa, decided to jointly renovate it.
In September 2019, the first stage of the project had started, and thanks to the support of many great people, it was very successfully completed. We fully restored five gravestones and partially restored four others. Much remains to be done; more than a dozen gravestones still need professional restoration in order to be saved. We are sure that with your support and participation, this year’s phase of the project will result in the revival of even more gravestones. The project, just as in the first stage, will be carried out without state grants, only with the efforts of volunteers and supported by free-will donations.
Therefore, we are asking for your financial support, which we will use to cover the costs of building materials and the accommodation of the volunteers, allowing them to remain on-site.
The success of this project depends on your commitment – which we will sincerely welcome!
