Social Christmas Eve in Humenne for the tenth time already

The local organization of the Rusyn Obroda in Slovakia, Humenne, already for the tenth time organized an event entitled Rusyn social Christmas Eve. The event took place on Saturday 21 January 2017.

The tables were full of traditional dishes, as cabbage soup, potato salad etc. Carols were sang, also the Word could be heard from a parish priest Peter Humenik.

“We are one big family, almost the same people meet here every year. Today there are one hundred of them altogether,” according to Eva Kuncova, a head of the Rusyn Obroda in Humenne (information from the Korzár daily). The Rusyn Obroda in Slovakia has one of the biggest membership buildings in Humenne when it comes to the local organizations.

Within the event, a female singing group Zornica performed, which functions within the local organization, also a Male singing group Hacure or Runianka from Rusyna performed. Students from the Materska school in Humenne (Trebicska street) presented their talent, a school where Rusyn is taught. Not only children from Humenne attend the school, but also children from the region whose parents wis that children learn in their mother Rusyn tongue.

Apart from the fact that the Local organization of Rusyn Obroda in Slovakia, Humenne, organized Christmas Eve on Saturday for the tenth time already, Kuncova informed that this year they will continue also other events that have been organized for years. Rusyn Majales, a festival, is going to be organized in Humenne, also some other events will be made, as usually.
